Motorcycle Insurance
Motorcycles aren’t dangerous – other drivers are. There is an argument
to be made both ways but no matter what side of the fence you are on
finding the right motorcycle insurance policy is of utmost important to
all motorcycle owners. Whether it’s a scooter, sport bike, touring bike,
dirt bike or even custom motorcycles insurance coverage is a must for
you and your family.
In the case of an accident good motorcycle insurance will not just cover
you but also any injured parties (depending on fault) and can
also extend to property loss from auto theft including the loss of the
entire vehicle or just stolen accessories such as saddlebags, helmets,
backrests etc. What you need to look for and ask any potential
insurance agent about should be – at the very minimum – coverage
limitations for:
Accessories Coverage
Most comprehensive policies will include coverage for accessories
such as saddlebags, backrests, seats, helmets and more – obviously
coverage amounts will vary from state to state)
Bodily Injury Liability
This feature provides legal defense should another party sue you for
damages from an accident and also provides protection (within limits)
for certain damages if you are involved in an accident resulting in
fatality or injury to anther party
Medical Payments
Most insurance policies will provide standard coverage or at least an
available option for coverage towards any medical expenses for yourself
and any passengers.
Property Damage Liability
Imagine crashing into someone's fence during an accident. Property
damage coverage provides protection for damages to personal property
owned by others in the case of an accident and also assists with any
legal costs should a claim arise pertaining to such property damage
incurred by an accident while you (the policy holder) were operating the
vehicle.
Collision Coverage
Probably the most basic element of car insurance where the insurance
company pays for any damage to your motorcycle caused by contact with
another vehicle, within policy limits.
Also note its very important for you to ask your insurance company about
coverage should you have an accident with an uninsured driver. Many
insurance companies offer coverage and /or additional riders where you
will be covered but ask since the number of accidents happening with
uninsured .. or underinsured … drivers increases every year.
